Mandarin Chinese Translation Specialist

About the role

Performs written Chinese/English translation for corporate business and marketing materials. Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment to achieve departmental and personal goals. Works with Product, Legal, IT, PR, Event, Multi-Media, and Executive Management Teams.

Responsibilities

• Provides written translation in the language pair of English and Chinese for subject matters including but not limited to white papers, catalogs, magazines, marketing materials, video subtitles, PowerPoints, website content, company policies, and business programs.
• Proofreads and edits translation to ensure its accuracy, contextual relevance, and cultural sensitivity.
• Works with various departments on localizations in both source and target languages.
• Builds and maintains glossaries of the most used Chinese dialects for all market countries.
• Follows translation, departmental, and company SOPs.

Education and Experience

• Native Chinese speakers preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Three to five years of experience in Chinese/English written translation, interpretation, proofreading of legal, scientific, financial, advertising, and/or marketing materials preferred.
• Or combination of equivalent experience, education, and training.

Skills

• Strong oral and written communication skills in both languages.
• Proficient in computer software and applications such as MS Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and internal workflow tools.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving ability; excellent organizational and time management skills; attention to detail; self-motivated and coachable on Market America specific translation workflows, styles, and standards.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
