About the Role

Oley Valley Animal Clinic is seeking a Managing Veterinarian to lead the next chapter of our well-established small animal practice. This role combines quality medicine with the personal feel of a community practice, serving dogs and cats in Oley Valley and surrounding communities. We partner with three local rescue organizations, offering the chance to make a broader impact on animals in the area.

Facilities

Our hospital was remodeled two years ago and features a bright, modern space designed for efficiency and excellent patient care:

  • Seven state-of-the-art exam rooms
  • A spacious, dedicated surgical suite
  • A modern dentistry suite
  • Well-equipped treatment areas
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of soft-tissue surgical procedures
  • Same-day sick appointments for urgent care
  • A dedicated and experienced support team

Appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes, allowing time to build relationships with clients and their pets while maintaining a steady workflow.

Responsibilities

As Managing Veterinarian, you will remain actively involved in patient care while providing medical leadership for the hospital. Key responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with the Hospital Manager to maintain high standards of patient care
  • Mentoring and supporting veterinarians and team members
  • Establishing medical protocols and best practices
  • Encouraging collaboration, communication, and continued learning
  • Ensuring compliance with veterinary standards, regulations, and licensing requirements
  • Collaborating on hospital operations, budgeting, and growth opportunities
  • Shaping the future of the practice and fostering a positive work culture

This role is ideal for a leader who enjoys teaching, coaching, and helping veterinary professionals grow.

Schedule

Doctors have flexibility to build a schedule that works for them, including 8- or 10-hour days, with some choosing three longer days per week. Hospital hours are:

  • Monday–Thursday: 8:00 AM–7:00 PM
  • Friday: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
  • Saturday: 8:00 AM–12:00 PM (every other Saturday)
  • Sunday: Closed

Doctors begin appointments at 9:00 AM.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an AVMA-accredited veterinary school or successful completion of the ECFVG certification program
  • Active veterinary license
  • Commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate medicine
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Enjoyment of mentoring, developing, and supporting others
  • A collaborative mindset and desire to help a hospital and its people grow
