About the role
The Managing Director is responsible for expanding and growing G2's investment banking efforts within the Industrials & Manufacturing (I&M) practice. Key responsibilities include sourcing and originating new engagements, executing complex transactions, and providing strategic advice to clients.
Responsibilities
- Sourcing and Origination - 40%
- Source and originate I&M engagement opportunities
- Develop industry relationships leading to sourcing new clients
- Maximize referrals and relevance through industry relationships and G2’s transaction history
- Deliver on ambitious sales goals to contribute to firm growth
- Coordinate with Marketing to develop industry segment communications
- Promote G2 and personal industry expertise through speaking engagements, articles, panels, and board service
- Execution - 40%
- Overall responsibility for each transaction
- Lead challenging and complex engagements
- Maintain the highest quality standards for all aspects of engagements
- Identify and mitigate risks proactively
- Manage critical client and stakeholder communications
- Organization Development - 20%
- Strategic direction and team development
- Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain team members
- Collaborate with other G2 leaders to share lessons learned and best practices
Qualifications
- Senior executive or Managing Director level experience in I&M sector
- Proven ability to manage complex business issues during all stages of the business lifecycle
- Significant transaction experience in M&A, capital raises, and financial advisory
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to facilitate critical conversations at all levels
- Deep experience and knowledge in I&M sectors, particularly niche manufacturing, industrial services, building products, metals and materials, and containers and packaging
- Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of building high-performance teams
- Hands-on experience in business development, including tangible results in direct sales
- Demonstrated financial acumen, including P&L responsibility, M&A experience, and business analysis
- Extensive professional network and ability to leverage reputation within the I&M sector
- Strong educational background, including undergraduate and master’s degrees from leading institutions
- Exceptional business acumen, including listening, written, and oral communication skills
- Success in key client-facing roles, building and maintaining strong relationships with clients
