Managing Director, Energy & Utilities
Client Delivery
Serve as a trusted advisor and executive relationship leader for utility clients.
Lead large-scale business and technology transformation engagements focused on utility modernization initiatives, including and to limited to AMI, ADMS, FAN, Distribution Automation, DER, CIS, ERP, EAM, and related platforms.
Provide executive oversight of engagement scope, resourcing, budgets, risks, quality, and client outcomes across a portfolio of projects.
Facilitate executive steering committees, strategic workshops, and key stakeholder discussions with client leadership teams.
Advises clients on operational improvements, technology strategy, organizational transformation, and modernization roadmaps.
Mentor project teams and provide leadership, coaching, and quality assurance throughout engagement delivery.
Business Development
Cultivate and expand executive relationships with utility clients, industry partners, and key stakeholders.
Generate and lead new business opportunities, managing the full sales lifecycle.
Develop strategic account plans that drive long-term value creation for clients and recurring revenue opportunities.
Partner with leaders across West Monroe to identify cross-functional opportunities and bring the firm’s full capabilities to clients.
Represent West Monroe at industry conferences, trade associations, and networking events to strengthen brand awareness and market presence.
Practice Development
Help define and execute the strategic vision for the national Energy & Utilities Practice aligned to the firms’ goals.
Lead the development of methodologies, offerings, thought leadership, and reusable assets that strengthen client delivery and market differentiation.
Recruit, mentor, coach, and develop consultants and future leaders across the practice.
Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing culture aligned with West Monroe’s people-first values.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
- 12+ years of experience within the Energy & Utilities industry, including significant experience leading large-scale utility modernization initiatives.
- 8+ years of consulting or professional services experience leading complex transformation programs and client engagements.
- Deep expertise in utility operations, grid modernization, and technologies including AMI, ADMS, FAN, Distribution Automation, DER, CIS/ERP, EAM, and related utility platforms.
- Proven success developing executive-level client relationships, originating new business, and growing strategic accounts.
- Demonstrated experience leading medium to large consulting teams and managing complex programs with multiple workstreams.
- Strong program and project management expertise, including scope, schedule, financial, risk, issue, stakeholder, and change management.
- Excellent executive communication, facilitation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience integrating AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) into day-to-day workflows to enhance productivity and insight generation, coupled with strong critical thinking to assess accuracy, mitigate bias, and ensure high-quality outputs.
- Able to travel 25 to 50%.

Employees in proximity of our Seattle, Washington DC, Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco offices will have a geographic premium applied to this salary scale.
