Managing Consultant - Energy Supply Chain (IT Programs)

As a Managing Consultant, you will play a key role in executing and delivering projects, developing insights from industry data, and supporting our energy clients in making strategic supply chain and capital project decisions. You will work closely with project leads, mentor junior team members, and may have opportunities to build client relationships. A growing portion of our pipeline involves IT and digital programs, including ERP, GIS, and network modernization, where we focus on sourcing, vendor selection, and program governance.
Responsibilities
- Provide deep analysis of quantitative and qualitative data and synthesize results into meaningful conclusions to help clients make strategic procurement and capital project decisions.
- Perform market research to assess supply and demand factors influencing clients' strategic business decisions.
- Support bidding processes for large capital project contracts and strategic supply chain initiatives, including pricing analysis, bidder coordination, negotiation design, and contract implementation.
- Support sourcing and vendor selection for client IT and digital programs, including RFP design and evaluation, pricing analysis, and contract structuring.
- Oversee and mentor junior members of the Supply Chain Consulting team to drive successful project execution.
- Coordinate and communicate with client supply chain management, PMOs, project executives, and engineering teams.
- Use WoodMac Energy Intelligence Platform software tools to analyze spend, build custom cost models, forecast escalation, manage eSourcing bid events, and train clients on these tools.
- Take on increasing responsibilities for managing internal and client teams as you progress toward promotion to Principal Consultant.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree with a focus in engineering, science, supply chain, or business; Master’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in Consulting, Supply Chain, Operations, or Engineering; experience in Power & Renewables and/or Oil & Gas sectors is preferred.
- Exposure to IT or digital program environments (e.g., ERP implementations, IT category sourcing, or vendor management) is a plus but not required.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a desire to build trust with clients.
- Proven success in team-oriented environments.
- Passion for mentoring and developing Consultants and Senior Consultants.
- Demonstrates judgment, maturity, and understanding of client challenges and constraints.
- Comfortable working alongside client IT, PMO, and engineering stakeholders.
- Results-driven with a willingness to adapt to a changing business environment.
- Willingness to travel 60-80% of the time.
