Managing Consultant, Air Quality

Responsibilities
- Serving as the technical lead, overseeing consultant-level staff on complex air quality projects
- Critically reviewing and interpreting local, state, and federal environmental regulations, with a focus on air compliance
- Maintaining client relationships and managing deliverables to meet client needs efficiently and to the highest quality
- Preparing air quality permit applications and environmental reports across a range of complexity levels and for a range of industry types
- Estimating emissions and conducting engineering evaluations of air pollution sources
Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. in Chemical, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering, Atmospheric Science, or a related physical science with strong quantitative coursework. PE certification a plus
- 9+ years of air quality consulting experience, including air permitting, compliance, and/or air dispersion modeling
- Demonstrated project management experience, including proposal development, managing scope, schedule, budgets, and multidisciplinary project teams
- Experience with client relationship management, and business development efforts
- Strong understanding of air pollution control technologies and air dispersion modeling tools (e.g., AERMOD)
- Experience interpreting and applying federal and state air regulations, including Clean Air Act programs (e.g., NSR/PSD, Title V, NSPS and NESHAP); multi-state experience desirable
- Demonstrated experience preparing air permit applications, including NSR/PSD and Title V, encompassing emissions calculations, regulatory applicability analysis, application preparation, and agency coordination through permit issuance
- Proven ability to communicate technical information effectively to clients, regulators, and stakeholders, including presentations and regulatory interactions
- Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with programming (e.g., Python, R), databases
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior staff in technical and consulting skills

Pay
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $115,500 - $150,000 per year. This range reflects the compensation we reasonably expect to offer at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and internal equity. Because we operate across multiple U.S. markets, pay may differ depending on the cost of labor in specific locations. In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for bonus, overtime or other forms of compensation and we offer a comprehensive benefits package that supports well-being, professional development, and work-life balance.
