Managing Consultant, Acoustics
About the role
Ramboll is seeking an experienced acoustical managing consultant to join our Environment and Health department. This role is based in California, USA, and involves managing acoustical consulting projects, developing business relationships, and leading teams to provide innovative solutions to complex environmental noise challenges.
Responsibilities
- Manage acoustical consulting projects and client relationships
- Develop and implement project execution approaches
- Develop business relationships and evaluate market conditions
- Lead teams to develop and deliver innovative acoustical design solutions
- Manage technical analyses related to environmental noise surveys, sound level analyses, computer modeling, and mitigation design/specification
- Prepare reports and communicate results to clients and prepare proposals and fee estimates
- Mentor team members and influence the development of individual technical and professional skills
- Critically review and interpret local, state, provincial, and federal environmental regulations
Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. in an Engineering, Science, or Mathematics related major
- 10+ years of experience in acoustical consulting, specifically environmental noise assessment
- 5+ years of experience in environmental noise assessments related to The California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA)
- Practical knowledge of the CEQA environmental review process including, but not limited to, Initial Studies (IS) and Environmental Impact Reports (EIR)
- Demonstrated LORS (Laws, Ordinances, Regulations, and Standards) assessment experience including California Government Code, municipal codes, General Plan Noise Elements, and agencies such as Caltrans and California Energy Commission (CEC)
- Technical expertise in assessing impacts of commercial and industrial projects related to noise and vibration emissions associated with construction, traffic, and operational activities
- Experience coordinating with CEQA lead agencies, solid spreadsheet, noise modeling, and software tool skills

Pay
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $115,000 - $150,000 per year. This range reflects the compensation we reasonably expect to offer at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and internal equity. Because we operate across multiple U.S. markets, pay may differ depending on the cost of labor in specific locations. In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for bonus, overtime or other forms of compensation and we offer a comprehensive benefits package that supports well-being, professional development, and work-life balance.
