Manager, Water Quality & Environmental Compliance

$81,120 - $133,380. The base salary range represents a good-faith estimate; actual compensation will be determined by market, geography, skills, education, and experience. This position is eligible for annual incentive pay and continued salary growth.

Responsibilities

  • Establish day-to-day management of personnel and implementation of water-quality, laboratory programs, environmental stewardship, and environmental rules and regulations to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain budgets, commit expenditures, and set priorities.
  • Maintain liaisons with internal and external stakeholders, including key regulatory officials and company personnel.
  • Act independently on technical and environmental matters.
  • Initiate and control the overall environmental compliance program across all geographic areas of responsibility, including oversight of all required monitoring and reporting of sample results under the Safe Drinking Water Act and/or Clean Water Act.
  • Ensure environmental program requirements are met in accordance with Environmental Management Plans.
  • Coordinate resolution of environmental issues with State regulatory personnel and local operations.
  • Make authoritative decisions and recommendations with far-reaching impact on environmental activities.
  • Direct supportive workforce to maintain compliance with environmental regulations and laboratory procedures, including accreditation/certification for specialized parameters.
  • Review and determine the impact on company activities from existing and proposed regulations at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Execute departmental business plans and contribute to the development of functional strategies.
  • Assist in preparing capital and O&M budgets for environmental compliance-related items.
  • Assure adherence to policies, programs, performance standards, and approved objectives related to environmental compliance, including health and safety, affirmative action, corporate responsibility, and labor relations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering-related field.
  • Minimum of 5–10 years of experience in environmental management, water quality, and compliance, depending on position level.
  • Experience managing people, processes, technologies, and budgets.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Project management experience desired.
  • On-call responsibilities.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license; water license preferred.

Schedule

  • 4 days in office, 1 day remote.
  • Must be able to travel to Egg Harbor and Salem, NJ, and attend meetings as required.

  • Knowledge of science, theory, and application of water/wastewater treatment and operations, water-quality monitoring, and quality-assurance programs.

  • Familiarity with industry trade organizations and participation in activities aimed at improving environmental program awareness and stewardship.
