Manager, Underwriting - Life

About the role

This role will lead continuous improvement work focused on process discipline, productivity, and measurable operating gains. You will partner with operational leaders and project stakeholders to standardize workflows, identify bottlenecks, and improve execution quality. The position offers the opportunity to create measurable efficiency gains and scalable operational improvements within a regulated financial services environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee a team of underwriters to enhance engagement and performance
• Participate in and sponsor major projects that improve operational efficiency
• Hire and develop talented underwriters for succession planning
• Foster client relationships through technical expertise and high-quality service
• Ensure timely client service and resolve escalated service issues
• Implement regulations and prepare responses to regulatory changes
• Drive continuous improvement in underwriting processes and procedures
• Manage the budget and implement cost-reduction strategies

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred
• 10 years of life underwriting experience required
• 5 years of leadership experience preferred
• Validated technical underwriting ability on both medical and non-medical bases
• Expert knowledge of life underwriting principles and practices

Pay

$108,000 – $200,000 annually
