About the Role
The Manager Trainee is a full-time, entry-level position designed to prepare you for a leadership role within 84 Lumber. This hands-on training role covers all aspects of store operations, with the goal of promotion to a management position within 6-12 months. Promotions can lead to up to a 40% increase in annual pay. No prior experience is required—just dedication and a willingness to learn.
Manager Trainees must complete a structured learning plan and be willing to relocate for a management position.
Responsibilities
- Support customers and drive sales in a retail store environment.
- Oversee store operations, including material/supply chain flow, stock, and merchandising.
- Read blueprints and create material estimates for building projects.
- Operate forklifts and handle materials safely (certification provided).
- Manage business operations, including payroll, invoicing, inventory, and financial analysis.
- Interpret and analyze common financial reports.
- Respond to customer inquiries and complaints.
- Use Microsoft Office Suite (training provided; prior experience preferred).
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Full-time availability (48+ hours/week, including overtime).
Work Environment
This role involves working in both indoor and outdoor settings, assisting customers in all weather conditions (wet, humid, hot, or cold). Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, and lifting up to 80 pounds. You may also work around machinery and airborne particles.
