About the Role

The Manager Trainee is a full-time, entry-level position designed to prepare you for a leadership role within 84 Lumber. This role offers hands-on training across all aspects of store operations, with the goal of promotion to a management position within 6–12 months. Successful trainees can expect up to a 40% increase in annual pay upon promotion and may progress to General Manager roles within 3–4 years.

No prior experience is required—just dedication and a willingness to learn. Manager Trainees must complete a structured learning plan and be open to relocation for future management opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Support customers and drive sales in a retail store environment.
• Oversee store operations, including material/supply chain flow, stock, and merchandising.
• Read blueprints and create material estimates for building projects.
• Operate forklifts and handle materials safely (certification provided).
• Manage payroll, invoicing, inventory, and financial analysis using POS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Interpret and analyze common financial reports.
• Respond to customer inquiries and complaints.

Work Environment

This role involves working in both indoor and outdoor settings, assisting customers in all weather conditions (wet, humid, hot, or cold). Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, and lifting up to 80 pounds, as well as working around machinery and airborne particles.

Requirements
