Manager, Software Engineering - (Chicago - Hybrid) - FreeWheel

Core Responsibilities

• Manages an Engineering team and collaborates with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements.
• Counsels on integration needs and reviews the design of new software and web applications.
• Supports applications under development and customizes current applications.
• Assists with the software update process for existing applications and roll-outs of software releases.
• Trains representatives and operations staff on internally developed software applications.
• Researches, writes, and edits documentation and technical requirements, including software designs, evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals, and formal recommendations and reports.
• Maintains and monitors competitive applications and products.
• Partners with global engineering, product, and operations teams to incorporate collective innovations.

About You

• Experience with C/C++, DB design, and network programming.
• Experience with large system software design and development.
• Experience with distributed systems and mission-critical systems.
• Experience with managing 5-8 Engineers.
• Experience with Golang is a plus.
• Experience with Agentic AI in SDLC is a plus.
• Advertising industry experience is a plus.
• Demonstrated expertise in problem-solving and technical innovation.
• Strong passion for learning/practicing new techniques.
• Knowledgeable about SDLC, Agile, and Software Engineering Methodology.
• Team working skills, good communication skills, Willingness to work under pressure.
• Ability to work closely with global teams and accept additional working time besides normal working hours to meet or co-work with global teams.

Education

• Bachelor's Degree or above.

Relevant Work Experience

• 5-8 years relevant work experience.

Pay

• Primary Location Pay Range: $137,369.30 - $206,053.95.
