About the role
The software engineering manager will lead a section of approximately 10-15 application software engineers working within the San Diego Engineering and Sciences (E&S) Software and Digital Technologies (SWDT) department. The successful candidate will lead direct report employees based on organizational goals, program activity, and company policies.

- Plan assignments and fill program needs to ensure success, but which also offer growth to the individuals performing the work.
- Performance management: on an ongoing basis engage with staff to identify growth opportunities, deficiencies, appropriate training, etc.
- Execute to the Enterprise review cycle.
- Manage compensation and career progression.
- Support the creation, updating, and maintenance of software engineering processes.
Requirements
- BS + 5 years of exp in related STEM field; MS + 3 years of exp
- Candidate must have excellent written, communication, and emotional intelligence skills, and be able to work independently and within groups
- Able to facilitate/mediate in conflict resolution matters
- Proficiency in software development, Object Oriented programming, and software lifecycle processes
- Familiarity with other engineering disciplines including manufacturing, test, systems, quality, and electrical
- Must have an active Secret Clearance
- Must be able to work on site at the facility
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a functional manager or technical team leader
- Hands on experience with DoD communications systems
- Proficiency in C/C++, Python, Java, XML, Multi-threaded Linux Environments
- Familiar with OMS/UCI infrastructure
- Experience with DevOps technologies including Atlassian suite, GitLab, Jenkins, Coverity, BlackDuck
- Direct supervisory experience and/or significant team leadership
- Familiarity with EVMS Reporting and CAM responsibilities
- Familiarity with other organizational functions such as supply chain, procurement, logistics, and mission assurance
Skills
- Technical performer, working approximately 80% directly on programs involving systems within the Connectivity & Network Solutions (CNS) business unit (BU), representing our Engineering and Sciences organization.
