Manager, Small Molecule (GMP Lab)

As a Manager, you will oversee daily operations, ensure quality and project timelines, and support the implementation of company policies, quality systems, and training programs. Your role will directly influence patient health through scientific expertise, accuracy, and innovation in a dynamic laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily activities of staff, including interviewing, selection, professional development, goal setting, performance management, coaching, and mentoring.
• Review and approve requests for paid time off, leave, overtime, and timesheet reports for billing accuracy.
• Allocate, schedule, and manage laboratory resources for project activities; update project status and revenue projections.
• Communicate project performance metrics, quality updates, and staff development opportunities.
• Demonstrate process improvements and efficiency gains to meet department goals; define and monitor performance metrics for quality and productivity.
• Coordinate and prioritize project activities with internal functional groups (physical testing, microbiology) and support functions (QA, sample management).
• Identify new opportunities within the client base and collaborate with business development to pursue them.
• Participate in project definition, client negotiations on timelines and budget, audits, and department tours.
• Provide recommendations to clients on analytical and compliance issues.
• Review and approve laboratory investigations, deviations, and QA facility and data audits.
• Prepare and implement SOPs and company operational policies; ensure adherence and recommend quality system improvements.
• Ensure staff knowledge and application of GMP/GLP and other laboratory/client requirements.
• Participate in bi-annual SOP review and own changes needed for compliance.
• Assist senior management in their responsibilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant formal academic/vocational qualification.
• 5–8 years of comparable experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and directly related experience.
• 2+ years of management responsibility.

• Required use of PPE, including safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, and ear plugs.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups.
• Capable of working upright/standing for typical working hours.
• Ability to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds.
• Proficiency with standard office equipment and technology.
• Potential exposure to hazardous elements, including infectious agents in laboratory environments.
• Ability to work under pressure while prioritizing multiple projects or activities.
