About the role
The Amazon Search team creates customer-focused search solutions and technologies. Whenever a customer visits an Amazon site worldwide and types in a query or browses through product categories, Amazon Search services go to work. We design, develop, and deploy high-performance, fault-tolerant, distributed search systems used by millions of Amazon customers every day.
Responsibilities
- Scale the Amazon Search service by working closely with service owners in engineering and operations to understand the service in depth and drive optimal scaling and computational capacity planning.
- Identify and track key performance metrics around efficiency and costs.
- Manage planning, ordering, and budgeting for hardware and other computational resources.
- Develop and improve tools for automating the foregoing responsibilities wherever possible.
- Analyze resource utilization and performance test data to identify variables impacting performance and scalability.
- Develop models for required hardware resources to meet current and future SLAs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or above in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent, or Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 2+ years of a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, data science, business analytics, economics, finance, engineering, or computer science experience.
- 3+ years of people management and team development experience.
- Experience in scripting for automation (e.g., Python) and advanced SQL skills.
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools.
- Experience in technical leadership of large, complex initiatives, and delivering critical solutions, significant improvements, or new mechanisms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent, or Master's degree or above in business administration, finance, economics, computer science, data science, engineering, or other related field.
- Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift.
- Experience in data science, business analytics, business intelligence, or similar experience in big data environments.
- Experience analyzing metrics to drive business improvements.

USA, CA, Palo Alto - $188,100.00 - $254,500.00 USD annually.
