About the role
The Manager, Sales-Special Events plays a crucial role in securing corporate and private events at assigned venues or regions. This position involves prospecting, selling, and managing bookings for special events and rentals.
Responsibilities
- Prolifically seek out new business through networking, contacting leads, and strategic deal negotiations.
- Create and respond to proposals for potential events and clients, collaborating with the client to establish the proposal based on event and venue qualifications.
- Collect deposits and execute contracts, ensuring thorough follow-up and availability to address client inquiries regarding contract details.
- Negotiate rental agreements and contracts with clients, working closely with legal counsel and the client’s event team to ensure mutual agreement on terms.
- Collaborate with accountants to manage deposits and adhere to all contractual deadlines.
- Create a marketing budget and plan, leveraging industry knowledge and trends to market venues effectively and generate revenue.
- Develop relationships with local business associations, CVBs, and Chambers of Commerce to promote venues and increase return on investment.
- Communicate with clients regularly via phone, email, and social gatherings to maintain and grow valued business relationships.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (4-year)
- 4-6 years of related work experience
- Proven track record of increasing revenue and building client relationships
- Strong networking skills and ability to work independently and within a team
- Experience working with local and national sales teams
- Self-starter with the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Event Sales experience in a similar facility preferred
- Marketing and catering backgrounds preferred
Qualifications
- BA/BS Degree
- Experienced sales professional with a proven track record of increasing revenue
- Ability to forecast sales and budget accordingly
- Knowledge of special events and ability to market venues effectively
