Manager - Proposal Development
About the Role
As the Proposal Development Manager (PDM), you will manage the creation of proposals, collaborate with subject matter experts, and direct the work of the internal Proposal Development team to support the Utility and Broadband Solutions (UBS) Sales organization in increasing profitable revenue growth with utility and broadband customers. You will review, approve, and submit the final product, ensuring it exceeds customer expectations and adheres to company guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Leads, supervises, and reviews the work of Proposal Development Specialists.
- Facilitates meetings with senior Sales, Strategy, and Finance management to formulate proforma analyses of large, complex projects that comply with Wesco’s market strategy and profitability guidelines.
- Creates content that conveys the value Wesco brings to utility and broadband customers through comprehensive and customizable supply chain services.
- Collaborates with cross-functional subject matter experts to develop successful bid response strategies and responses to RFx events and unsolicited customer opportunities in support of Sales leadership.
- Serves as project manager and central point of contact for assigned proposal opportunities.
- Works with UBS Sales and Operations to prepare and submit proposals/scopes of work.
- Establishes priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, and approval.
- Leads cross-functional kick-off, status update, and approval conference calls, providing guidance and ensuring all stakeholders are on track and timelines are met.
- Identifies response requirements, researching and providing relevant information for proposal responses.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- 4 to 6 years of proposal/sales writing experience.
- 3+ years of project management and collaboration skills in a high-volume or fast-paced environment.
- 4+ years of utility or broadband experience in sourcing, procurement, supply chain, consulting, manufacturer sales, distributor sales, or marketing (preferred).
- Experience developing presentations for an executive audience (preferred).

- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including business storytelling, crafting original content, proofreading, editing, and spreadsheet accuracy validation.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Deadline and detail-oriented with diligent follow-through.
- Ability to build strong business relationships with other functional areas to best support mutual objectives.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple proposals with overlapping timelines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel), as well as Teams and SharePoint.
Pay
$93,937 - $159,693 annually. This amount reflects the range Wesco reasonably believes it will pay for the position, though final offers may vary based on factors such as geographic location, relevant education, experience, qualifications, skills, shift, or collective bargaining agreements. Eligible positions may include participation in a bonus or sales incentive plan, and certain sales roles may offer a commission structure based on sales results.
