Manager, Project Management - Central Lab
This is a fully remote role supporting our Global Central Laboratories. We welcome applicants from all locations within the US. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check, which includes a drug screening.
About the role
As a Manager of Project Management, you’ll lead and develop a team of project managers while driving the successful delivery of global central laboratory studies. You’ll take ownership of complex studies, ensuring timelines, budgets, quality, and execution are delivered from startup through closeout. You’ll serve as a key point of contact for sponsors, building strong client relationships, managing expectations, and proactively identifying and mitigating risks. Working cross-functionally and with external vendors, you’ll ensure seamless coordination across all aspects of study delivery. You’ll also play a critical role in shaping how work gets done by guiding project strategy, resolving escalations, and identifying opportunities to improve processes, scalability, and overall efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Manage and motivate project management staff. Recruits, trains, develop, and assess employees' performance.
- Write, evaluate, amend and deploy procedures and SOPs in global alignment.
- Monitor SOP and key task compliance.
- Serve as chief liaison between sponsor and all PPD internal departments performing the required tasks during the conduct of the study.
- Control, manage and delegate day-to-day activities during the clinical trial to resolve any issues and answer queries.
- Conduct regular face-to-face client meetings and continuously address client concerns and interpret needs to increase client satisfaction.
- Manage client and/or program level oversight and relationship to proactively address needs, expectations and modifications across similar studies.
- Establish and advocate high-level customer service for clients and programs to support continued service and growth of relationships.
- Plan and support workflow of team members.
- Perform as a mentor and trainer, identify and coach on areas for development and efficiencies in performing tasks.
- Author, review, revise and implement relevant procedural documents.
- Serve as a back-up for the Associate Director PM, when needed and advise on action plans.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification.
- Previous experience provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 5+ years).
- 1+ year of leadership responsibility.
- In some cases an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.
