About the Role

Organize and establish effective project management; coordinate and manage creative design decisions and construction document production; avoid contract claims and disputes; minimize change orders during construction phases; effectively manage changes in the project; eliminate interface disruptions between project participants; maintain and improve the project schedule and budget; ensure quality design and construction work; emphasize “hands-on” management of field operations; maintain operational use of completed facilities during construction; establish and maintain a competent and experienced staff; implement efficient and timely document control.

Responsibilities

  • Perform oversight of vendor contracts, including evaluation of technical performance and adherence to contract requirements, management of submittals, requests for information, modification documents, and directive processes.
  • Oversee and coordinate creative and technical design development to ensure alignment with budget and schedule.
  • Complete bidding and awarding of construction documents, including developing a bidders list, preparing RFPs, and managing bid response forms, construction agreements, general conditions, scopes of work, drawings, wage and equipment rates, payment and performance bonds, safety and health requirements, specifications, and addendums.
  • Prepare construction documents, including drawings, construction specifications, scopes of work, and general conditions.
  • Monitor changes or delays to the construction schedule, including evaluating contractor schedule performance, coordinating with other groups, reviewing weekly and monthly updates, and developing recovery plans for schedule variances.
  • Monitor quality assurance of the project through daily facility walkthroughs to ensure work aligns with contract documents, documenting and resolving questions and clarifications.
  • Prepare progress reports, including monthly status and progress reports for the Project Director, contributing to overall attraction updates for senior management.
  • Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established policies, procedures, and training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise Construction Manager, Technical Managers, Show Managers, Creative Project Staff, Project Architect, Administrative Support, and Document Control Support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Business Management or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience working in a design/engineering firm dealing with entertainment design and construction management, including large-scale construction projects.
  • Experience in various positions with a general contractor, including estimating, budgeting, bidding, and field experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
