About The Opportunity
Our client is a growing specialty insurance organization seeking a Manager, Program Oversight & Risk Management to support the evaluation, governance, and ongoing oversight of insurance program partnerships. This role will play a critical part in assessing new business opportunities, monitoring existing programs, identifying emerging risks, and ensuring MGA relationships align with the company’s strategic objectives, risk appetite, and regulatory expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end oversight and risk assessment process for new and existing MGA, program, and treaty opportunities, including financial, operational, contractual, and strategic reviews.
- Analyze program partners by examining financial performance, operational capabilities, governance structures, underwriting practices, claims processes, and overall alignment with company risk appetite.
- Identify key risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement; collaborate with internal teams and external partners to develop mitigation strategies and recommendations.
- Partner cross-functionally with underwriting, claims, finance, legal, compliance, operations, and reinsurance teams to ensure comprehensive assessments and effective program governance.
- Serve as a key partner in supporting the onboarding and implementation of new program partnerships by coordinating diligence activities, reviewing documentation, and ensuring operational readiness.
- Monitor existing programs and MGA relationships by analyzing performance trends, financial results, operational metrics, and emerging risks; escalate concerns and recommend appropriate actions.
- Prepare executive-level reporting, presentations, and written recommendations for senior management, regulators, reinsurers, and other key stakeholders.
- Support quarterly reporting and executive alignment by providing insight into portfolio performance, operating conditions, and risk considerations.
- Ensure contractual agreements and program documentation accurately reflect negotiated terms, regulatory requirements, and governance expectations.
- Drive continuous improvement of program oversight processes, tools, documentation standards, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with MGAs, brokers, reinsurers, regulators, and internal stakeholders to support business growth and effective partnership management.
- Contribute to the development of scalable strategies across operations, underwriting, and reinsurance functions while promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Maintain compliance with applicable US and international regulatory requirements, including obligations related to prudent business management, customer interests, sanctions, financial crime prevention, and regulatory expectations.
- Travel periodically as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- 6-10 years of experience in program insurance, MGA oversight, delegated authority, underwriting operations, risk management, due diligence, portfolio management, or a related insurance discipline.
- Demonstrated experience evaluating and managing relationships with MGAs, carriers, reinsurers, brokers, or other insurance partners.
- Strong understanding of insurance products, specialty insurance programs, MGA structures, fronting arrangements, and delegated authority models.
- Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial statements, P&L results, balance sheets, reinsurance financials, and operational performance data.
- Experience conducting risk assessments, financial reviews, operational evaluations, and translating findings into actionable business recommendations.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives from strategy through execution.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing executive summaries, leadership presentations, and strategic reporting.
- Ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership, operational teams, technical stakeholders, and external partners.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain a strategic perspective and identify broader business implications.
- Experience leading or mentoring team members, including remote employees, with a collaborative and coaching-oriented leadership style.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint, and project management tools.
- Experience leveraging AI-enabled tools is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related field required.
- Advanced insurance or financial certifications such as CPCU, ARe, CPA, CFA, or similar designations are highly valued.
