About the Role

The Manager, Product Management provides leadership and oversight for the execution of Komatsu’s global haul truck product strategy within the Komatsu Mining Technology (KMT) – Surface Haulage Business Unit (SHBU). This role leads a team of Associate Product Managers, Product Managers, and Senior Product Managers, responsible for translating product strategy into coordinated execution across the product lifecycle. The position ensures alignment with customer requirements, business objectives, and engineering capabilities while driving consistent product management practices. The Manager supports product competitiveness, customer satisfaction, and lifecycle performance of Komatsu’s haul truck portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy Execution: Execute the defined product strategy through the product management team, translating strategic direction into clear priorities, requirements, and deliverables. Ensure alignment with business objectives, customer needs, and competitive positioning.
  • Product Management and Delivery: Oversee execution of product management activities across the lifecycle, including development support, product improvements, and field issue resolution. Ensure product requirements are clearly defined and delivered solutions meet customer and business expectations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate activities between Product Management, Engineering, MTS, and regional operations to ensure alignment and effective execution. Facilitate communication and accountability across functions to resolve issues and drive consistent outcomes.
  • Technical Alignment and Decision Support: Ensure product decisions appropriately balance technical constraints, cost, performance, and risk. Leverage engineering subject matter experts while supporting accountability for requirements definition and acceptance of solutions.
  • Customer and Market Engagement: Support regions and key accounts with product understanding, positioning, and issue resolution. Ensure customer requirements and field insights are captured and reflected in product decisions.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Provide direction, coaching, and development for Product Managers and Associate Product Managers. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the team.
  • Travel: Domestic and international travel as required (20–30%).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business.
  • Minimum of ten (10+) years of combined experience in mining, business operations, product management, or engineering, with demonstrated capabilities in leadership, coaching, and development of others.
  • Strong understanding of mining equipment operations.
  • Experience working in cross-functional environments with engineering, operations, and commercial teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, build relationships across functions, and operate effectively in ambiguous environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of mining operations and equipment, with the ability to identify cost efficiencies, enhance customer value, and drive business growth through market expansion and increased share.

Physical Requirements

  • Ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light weights of 10-15 pounds.
  • Good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment, and read application information.
  • Frequent requirements to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions, often in remote mining locations, including walking on unpaved ground to review assembly and inspection processes of heavy equipment.

Pay

This role pays $145,000 - $170,000. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including experience and location.
