About the role

This hybrid role requires employees to work from our Kenilworth, New Jersey or NYC office 3 days per week and may work remotely the remaining days. The ideal candidate is a recognized procurement expert who can develop, plan, implement, and maintain leading-edge sourcing strategies across supply categories and relationships to achieve transformed business results and best total value of ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Provide sourcing category expertise for all related categories, including insourcing vs. outsourcing models.
  • Support development of category strategies based on rigorous analysis of spend data, supply market dynamics, category intelligence, and business requirements.
  • Identify profit improvement opportunities beyond sourcing, such as demand management, process improvements, insource vs. outsource, and innovation.
  • Actively drive value beyond cost—e.g., growth, innovation, risk management.
  • Regularly monitor the market for category-leading practices and demand/supply shifts, such as supply consolidation and technology innovations.
  • Strategic Sourcing:
    • Execute strategic sourcing projects using best-practice sourcing methodology to deliver exceptional total value in partnership with key stakeholders.
    • Follow the 7-step Sourcing Methodology to gather stakeholder and subject-matter expertise/insights and market intelligence.
    • Assess supplier capabilities and identify new suppliers.
    • Analyze supplier proposals and facilitate fact-based supplier selection processes.
    • Prepare and present business cases and should-cost models; perform complex data analysis and build financial models (e.g., ROI, supplier scorecards, savings tracking, make vs. buy decision models).
    • Analyze and summarize RFP responses and results; prepare recommendations for Senior Management.
    • Develop negotiation strategies and lead negotiations to maximize total value and minimize risks.
    • Establish contract terms and conditions; coordinate with legal to execute contracts that optimize partnerships.
    • Develop transition plans to new suppliers and support implementation.
    • Ensure savings are delivered against the financial plan.
    • Drive continuous improvements post-project.
  • Supplier Relationship Management:
    • Establish and manage governance processes with suppliers and outsourced partners for categories in scope.
    • Develop qualified, competitive sources of supply through comprehensive financial and market reviews.
    • Provide feedback on performance, seek continuous improvement, and drive innovation.
    • Work with suppliers and key stakeholders to manage supplier performance and develop new capabilities.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and third-party providers.
    • Identify root causes of performance issues and drive efficient resolution with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify cost drivers to increase cost awareness and influence cost consciousness.
    • Oversee and manage re-engineering, value engineering, and demand management opportunities to enhance operational effectiveness.
    • Implement and drive procurement strategy, policies, and procedures.
    • Enforce compliance with procurement policies and work to increase adoption.
  • Procurement Analysis:
    • Support value generation sourcing and process improvement initiatives.
    • Conduct analysis in Excel and other BI tools to support procurement activities, including spend analytics and budget analysis.
    • Leverage spend analytics to identify consolidation opportunities; understand total cost of ownership and cost drivers.
    • Analyze product/service specifications to identify rationalization opportunities.
    • Analyze demand and spend to identify patterns and reduction opportunities.
    • Analyze market intelligence to build business cases and should-cost models for sourcing and non-sourcing improvements (e.g., demand management, process improvements, insource vs. outsource).
    • Gather requirements and specifications from business and category experts to ensure proposed solutions meet business needs.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in a relevant area such as supply chain, business, or STEM; MBA or other relevant certification (e.g., ISM CPSM or Six Sigma) highly desirable.
  • 5+ years of relevant strategic sourcing experience demonstrating success in positions of increasing complexity.
  • Deep experience designing end-to-end procurement strategies and leading sustainable, high-impact sourcing approaches leveraging sourcing levers beyond tendering.
  • Experience with category management strategies, opportunity diagnostics, strategic sourcing processes, and supplier management with a proven track record of delivering business impact.
  • Demonstrated analytical, financial, problem-solving, organization, and project management skills.
  • Highly motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset; proactive and innovative.
  • Experience working effectively in global complex organizations and with offshore providers.
  • Ability to lead and influence change in the face of complexity and ambiguity.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, goal-oriented, dynamic organization with time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Leverage market data, external expert resources, spend analytics, and cost modeling to drive fact-based decision-making.
  • Strong project management skills, including stakeholder timelines and meeting management.
  • Expert understanding of contract terms and techniques for driving additional value and managing risks.
  • Ability to support, lead, and conduct successful negotiations.
  • Develop and manage relationships across the business to achieve key business, organizational, and cross-cultural objectives.
  • Knowledge of Supplier Management tools (SRM, conducting Quarterly Business Reviews, etc.).
  • Technology-savvy with high competency in MS Office; advanced Excel skills and proficiency in other analytics software, eSourcing, Ariba, SAP, and JDE.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, including meeting facilitation and presentations.
  • Ability to interact effectively and gain credibility with internal associates at all levels as well as external third parties.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa support.

Pay

The base pay range for this position is $88,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge, and geographic location. Certain positions may also be eligible for short-term incentives as part of total compensation.
