Manager, Plant Environmental Health & Safety

Primary Purpose of the Position

The Manager, Plant Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) reports to the Plant Manager and directs the EHS function. They ensure the plant EHS programs meet Ball’s overall environmental health/safety plans and objectives, driving the organization towards outstanding safety performance.

Essential Responsible Areas

- **Maintain a Safe/Secure Work Environment:** Ensure the plant operates in a safe and secure manner. - **Develop and Administer EHS Processes:** Implement and manage processes like accident investigations, corrective actions, safety inspections/audits, lockout/tagout, confined space, hot work permits, etc. - **Drive Safety Culture Change:** Lead initiatives and programs focused on zero incidents, including behavioral based safety. - **Partner with Leadership:** Collaborate with BPNCA Leadership and Corporate EHS team to drive ISO 14001/OHSAS 18001 plant-level initiatives. - **Compliance and Training:** Manage environmental programs and activities ensuring regulatory compliance, develop and facilitate training on EHS initiatives, DOT compliance topics, and OSHA/ environmental training. - **Environmental Management:** Develop and maintain procedures for labelling, storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials. - **Data Compilation and Reporting:** Compile data, prepare, and submit required regulatory reports. - **Communication and Emergency Preparedness:** Communicate with Ball personnel and authorities on environmental, health, and safety compliance issues; serve as the primary point of contact for inquiries from agencies, companies, and communities. - **Emergency Plan Familiarity:** Maintain thorough familiarity with the facility’s emergency contingency plan.

Position Requirements & Competencies

**Professional & Education Qualification** - High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's Degree preferred. - 3+ years of environmental experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting. - 3+ years of safety experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting. - Significant experience with OSHA (including Voluntary Protection Programs) regulations and principles. **Skills** - Ability to apply intensive and diversified evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard plant environmental operations techniques, procedures, and criteria. - Must be able to handle sensitive related and proprietary information in a confidential manner. - Strong facilitation, communication, and change management skills. - Working knowledge of environmental regulations, legal practices, OSHA requirements, environmental principles, practices, nomenclature, and procedures, generally accepted managerial practices and procedures, and company policies, procedures, and products.

Compensation & Benefits

- **Expected Hiring Salary Range:** $98,900 - $125,000 (Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.) - **Annual Incentive Compensation:** Eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan. - **Benefits:** Comprehensive benefits structure available. - **Work Environment:** Based in Winter Haven, FL, with regular in-person engagement required.
