About the role

The Manager – Plant Engineering 3 is responsible for leading the maintenance department in the preventive, predictive, and corrective repair of production, warehouse and building equipment in a high-speed manufacturing environment. Additionally, the Plant Engineering Manager initiates, coordinates and manages capital projects.

Responsibilities

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the UNITED policies and applicable laws
  • Interview, hire, and train associates
  • Plan, assign, and direct work
  • Appraise performance
  • Address complaints and resolve problems
  • Builds positive associate morale
  • Develops departmental skills in the areas of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, refrigeration and structural diagnostics, repair, and preventive maintenance
  • P/L responsibility for overall repair and maintenance budgets to include parts room inventory, labor, maintenance contracts, and outside services
  • Learns and maintains International Standards Organization - ISO22000 standards in the maintenance department
  • Partners with Corporate Engineering Department on annual equipment rebuilds and preventative maintenance programs
  • Performs appropriate duties as assigned by management

Requirements

  • Minimum age 18 years old
  • Valid driver’s license required and obligation to maintain compliance with UNITED fleet policy
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by position and compliance with UNITED safety policies
  • Regular and prompt attendance is an essential function of the job
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Ability to maintain a neat professional appearance within Company guidelines
  • Ability to maintain safety and security of Company assets
  • Ability to utilize all Company provided resources and technology
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to coach and manage needs and concerns of multiple associates
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or 5 to 10 year’s related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, or flexible schedule as required
  • Effective technical and written communication skills
  • Strong mechanical ability with hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical
  • Strong ability to manage local and capital projects

Monday - Friday; 7am-5pm (weekends as needed)
