Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates, directs and evaluates all clinical activities as delegated by the Director of Pharmacy, including supervision of refilling machines, medical prescriptions database entries and dispatch of medicines.
  • Plans, coordinates, directs and evaluates all administrative activities as delegated by the Director of Pharmacy, including scheduling of pharmacy technicians tasks, monitoring process compliance and monthly reporting.
  • Implements process and procedures to comply with regulations for medicine handling including reception and storage of medicines, inventory and expenses controls.
  • Manages day to day activities of the pharmacy technicians and monitors their performance to meet departmental goals.
  • Maintains pharmacist’s certifications and maintenance of database privileges and access controls to medical records.
  • Provides pharmaceutical care to patients as a staff pharmacist.
  • Affords assessments and maintains pharmacy inventory and executes necessary orders, including reviews, to maintain optimal supply and ongoing availability of drugs, identifying and procuring alternative drugs to mitigate risks, when necessary.
  • Ledges processes for hiring of pharmacy staff, onboarding, and performance management, including leadership of competency evaluations process and documentation.
  • Manages internal workflows of acute pharmacy, including optimization of staffing and scheduling to maintain best-in-class and streamlined pharmacy operations.
  • Participates in meetings and provides insight to hospital committees to ensure coordination among cross-functional groups.
  • Assists in execution of plans for lowering costs, increasing efficiency and driving profitable growth to support strategic business objectives in the acute pharmacy business.
  • Assumes responsibility for Quality Assurance monitoring and completing End of the Month reports as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in pharmacy or PharmD.
  • Must be a “good standing” licensed Pharmacist in the state of Texas.
  • Experience in an inpatient/hospital/specialty pharmacy environment highly preferred.
  • Management experience highly preferred.
  • Ability to see, hear, write, and speak clearly in order to communicate with customers and health care professionals.
  • Excellent planning, organizing and leadership skills.
  • Strong customer orientation and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work on call or be in an on call rotation.
  • Vendor Credentialing may be required.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, reach, stoop, lift and stand for entire shift.
