About the role
The Market Access & Patient Services (MAPS) organization within APEX plays an instrumental role in shaping payer market access and patient services strategies for all of AbbVie’s domestic brands. As an individual contributor of the Payer Contract Analytics team, you will greatly influence securing market access across all therapeutic areas and payer channels by executing contracting strategies and leading assigned deal model analytics.
Responsibilities
- Independently develop analytics related to contracting for key AbbVie brand products & therapeutic areas (Immunology, Migraine, Antipsychotic, GI, Women’s Health, HCV) to assess pricing & financial impacts of coverage contracting with National & Regional payers.
- Provide insights into the Payer/GPO contracting dynamics across Commercial & Medicare channels.
- Collaborate with stakeholders including Finance, Marketing & Field-based Account Managers to ensure optimized decision making on contracting for access and formulary positioning.
- Ensure company has appropriate pricing & contracting analytics for current (in-line) & new (pipeline) products, for each payer deal to maximize access across modeled AbbVie products.
- Perform modeling on deal/ no-deal decision scenarios, inclusive of gross-to-net assessment of any proposed payer contract, ensuring accuracy of analysis, & communicate results & recommendations from analysis to cross-functional stakeholders.
- Lead and prepare clear, concise financial modeling summaries and payer insights to enable coverage negotiations and deliver favorable contract outcomes.
- Collaborate and contribute to internal presentations for approval of strategy & read-outs with key stakeholders & independently address contracting analysis questions.
- Conduct retrospective analysis of payer contract to ensure Actuals align with forecasted financials & adjust contract model inputs, as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required in Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science, Business Analytics or another quantitative field of study, & 5 years of work experience in financial modeling &/ or data analytics in pharmaceutical, health care or other industry within a consulting firm or professional services environment.
- Advanced degree preferred.
- Track record of working collaboratively across teams to successfully investigate, model, and deliver analytics-based recommendations to support decision making.
- Strong self-starter with business and financial acumen – prior experience in pharmaceutical contracting analysis with an emphasis on data and financial analysis would be optimal.
- Working knowledge and understanding of the ever-evolving pharmacy channel stakeholder economics, including Payers, Pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), and Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs).
- Familiarity with drug price benchmarks across medical and pharmacy benefit channels strongly preferred (e.g., ASP, WAC).
- Experience analyzing patient claims data (e.g. IQVIA LAAD, Symphony Health data) for Pharmacy channel products.
- Expert level knowledge of enterprise BI tools like PowerBI to extract/ analyze data.
- Fluency in multiple programming languages and statistical analysis tools including but not limited to MS Excel, SQL, R, Python, and Git.
- Working experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and services (e.g., SageMaker, Bedrock AgentCore) is highly desired.
- Experience developing and delivering insights effectively to cross-functional business partners and BU leaders.
