About the role

The Operations Manager of Production ensures the production schedule is met by manufacturing high-quality products on time and within budget. This role involves leading production teams, coordinating with cross-functional departments (Molding, Materials Management, Maintenance), and driving performance improvements.

Responsibilities

• Participate in developing and achieving key departmental metrics to drive performance and improvements.
• Provide direct supervision and guidance to Production leadership, ensuring personnel are trained with necessary competencies.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, regulations, and budgeted headcount.
• Review and approve personnel changes, including hiring, firing, discipline, transfers, and promotions.
• Lead employee safety initiatives and address material shortages, equipment issues, and personnel concerns to avoid production disruptions.
• Support process improvements, cost reduction goals, and implement best practices for production planning, scheduling, workforce, and inventory control.
• Provide input on finished goods inventory, safety stock, and target inventory strategies for existing and new products.
• Coordinate and communicate supply shortages and recovery plans with internal supply and demand planning teams.
• Lead problem-solving efforts to resolve production-related issues.
• Ensure departmental compliance with federal, state, local, and company regulatory requirements (FDA, EPA, OSHA, ISO, EEOC).
• Maintain documentation, housekeeping, preventative maintenance, calibration, associate training, and safety standards.
• Demonstrate leadership through effective communication, respect, and commitment to team success.
• Regularly interact with senior management or executive levels on matters concerning multiple functional areas.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 4+ years of experience in manufacturing leadership.
• Minimum of 2 years in high-volume manufacturing with demonstrated skills in management, planning, supervision, and associate relations.
• Preferred background in Injection Molding and/or Medical Device manufacturing.

Skills

• Comprehensive knowledge of technical service practices, production processes, and efficiency standards.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for diverse groups.
• Proven success in implementing large-scale improvements in complex environments.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and business control software (Oracle).
• Ability to manage projects across multiple locations with diverse teams.
• Strong leadership, motivational, and analytical skills.
• Ability to coordinate multiple projects and prepare reports for decision-making.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Regularly required to talk or hear; largely sedentary but may involve filing, lifting files, or accessing filing cabinets.
• Must occasionally move and lift objects up to 25 lbs.
• Work is performed in a professional office and cleanroom environment.
• May require sitting or standing for long periods.
• Travel required less than 5–20% of the time.
