About the role
HealthFitness is looking for a Shift Manager / Manager on Duty to work on a collaborative team and assist with the fitness center oversight at our client site located in Beaumont, Texas. In this role, you'll help oversee fitness center operations, provide leadership and support to staff, and ensure members receive outstanding service in a welcoming and well-maintained environment.
Responsibilities

- Serve as a key point of contact during your shift, helping to ensure the facility runs smoothly and efficiently.
- Help with all member service desk administration and processes including phones, membership enrollments, and greeting, checking in, and assisting customers.
- Provide program information services and membership information.
- Provide oversite of and back-up coverage for all positions, including lifeguards.
- Conduct hourly facility walk-thru rounds to assess safety and cleanliness.
- Perform periodic inventory checks of recreation, concessions, and proshop equipment and merchandise.
- Efficiently respond to client and participant requests, comments, or concerns and bring issues to a timely and appropriate resolution.
- In an emergency, lead/manage incidents and complete incident reports as needed.
- Maintain and update participant and facility policies as appropriate.
- Educate participants on policies and procedures.
- Perform opening and closing duties depending on shift hours.
- Participate in internal programs, special events, and membership drives.
- Collect membership fees and perform related recordkeeping.
- Other duties as needed/assigned.
Requirements
- At least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or GED and 1+ years of in-person customer service experience.
- ARC Lifeguard certified or possess swim skills and the ability to pass Lifeguard certification course within 30 days of hire.
- Experience with facility operations and staff supervision ideally in a fitness and/or aquatic facility.
- Hands-on experience with preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of basic facility equipment, fitness equipment, and/or pool equipment.
- Adult CPR/AED/First Aid certification from American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Safety & Health Institute required within 90 days of hire.
- Strong interpersonal and accountability skills.
- Basic computer and point of sale systems knowledge.
Pay
The compensation range for this role is $11 - $12/hour. The final wage offer will be determined based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, skill set, and other relevant factors.
Schedule
12 hours/week, primarily weekends and closing shifts.
