About the Role

Under the direction of the BD/SPD, the Manager on Duty provides leadership and management for the branch facility to maintain high standards of excellence in all aspects of branch operations in collaboration with department leadership teams, in accordance with all Greater Wichita YMCA policies, procedures, and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Staff Development
    • Ensure staff actively exhibit the Culture of Excellence and communicate the mission, vision, and values of the Wichita YMCA.
    • Verify all staff are dressed appropriately for their program area as stated in the Employee Handbook.
    • Monitor staffing levels in each program area to meet ratios and send staff home if over-staffed.
    • Correct inappropriate behavior as it occurs and communicate with direct supervisors to ensure appropriate disciplinary action.
    • Ensure all staff are present and working appropriately.
    • Educate staff on the crisis response plan.
  • Program Operations
    • Conduct regular and frequent walk-throughs throughout the work shift.
    • Ensure all services comply with YMCA standards and methods of operation.
    • Monitor and evaluate the delivery and effectiveness of all programs and services, striving for the highest quality.
    • Ensure proper implementation of front desk procedures.
    • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of association-wide programs for educating Member Service staff.
    • Ensure membership and program information is tactfully displayed and available in appropriate areas.
    • Be accessible and visible to staff and members.
    • Communicate inquiries and concerns to all departments at the end of each shift to ensure a response within 24 hours.
    • Complete and submit the required MOD report at the end of each work shift.
  • Strong Community Campaign / Financial Development
    • Provide leadership for assigned aspects of the Strong Community Campaign, special events, and other fund development to meet fundraising goals.
  • Facilities
    • Maintain familiarity with all risk management procedures and policies.
    • Ensure daily completion of incident reports and proactive follow-up on unresolved issues.
    • Maintain the front desk area in an orderly, clean, and safe condition.
  • Child Abuse Prevention
    • Adhere to boundary policies, attend required training, and report concerns.
    • Follow mandated reporting policy and fulfill job-specific responsibilities such as maintaining and securing unused areas.
    • Ensure proper sign-in/out procedures.
  • Screen for abuse risk, provide ongoing supervision and training, offer regular feedback on boundaries, enforce policies, and respond promptly to violations.
  • Take reports seriously and confidentially, follow mandated reporting, and communicate the organization’s commitment to consumer protection.
  • Report essential information to the appropriate contact and communicate information promptly to all branch leadership and departmental staff.
  • Attend applicable training and conferences to further professional development.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
