Manager of School Design and Strategic Scheduling (SY26-27)

Responsibilities

  • Work with a portfolio of schools throughout the year to help them make strategic choices in terms of scheduling, budget, and staffing
  • Facilitate the process of strategic school design, which includes setting priorities, allocating resources effectively, planning for implementation, and creating efficient, effective schedules
  • Help schools to build master schedules using a suite of scheduling tools
  • Support schools to troubleshoot immediate operational issues
  • Partner with staff from other BPS departments to create a strong cross-functional web of support for schools and to better align practices that support effective scheduling
  • Develop and refine tools and resources that support the schedule creation process
  • In collaboration with other departments, analyze student and school schedules for adherence to district guidance and state regulations
  • Collaborate with the scheduling team on the OIIT service desk to provide seamless and timely technical and strategic support to schools regarding scheduling systems and issues
  • Share best practices from BPS and non-BPS schools around the use of time; help to codify them into a guide for principals
  • Regularly brief the Director on common pain points and systemic barriers discovered during school-level work, to help inform district-wide policy changes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with school-level operations and scheduling
  • Experience with or understanding of best practices for strategic school design
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to find innovative solutions to complex challenges
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Word) and Google (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms) suite of tools
  • Ability to work well with a team and to facilitate small group meetings
  • Excellent written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage diverse stakeholders
  • Current authorization to work in the United States
