Responsibilities

  • Directs all staff in the fulfillment of project assignments, within budget and on schedule.
  • Maintains safe working conditions and practices.
  • Trains employees in proper work practices and maintains training on a regular basis.
  • Maintains and monitors department staff to ensure adherence to safety and infection control policies and procedures, including body mechanics and ergonomics.
  • Serves as a backup to the Safety Officer.
  • Participates in committees such as Emergency Management, Infection Control, and Water Management.
  • Conducts periodic assessments of facilities to identify needed improvements and repairs.
  • Manages the maintenance staff's training in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, environmental controls, and medical equipment.
  • Ensures compliance with preventative maintenance of all medical equipment.
  • Performs minor repairs on medical equipment as needed.
  • Develops and implements preventive maintenance programs.
  • Develops and maintains written maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates with the contracted Biomedical Agency for medical equipment.
  • Ensures compliance with the Preventative Maintenance of all medical equipment.
  • Inspects and performs minor repairs on medical equipment as needed.

Qualifications

  • A college degree is required, or substantial building block experience may be substituted.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience is required, including at least 5 years of experience managing a hospital’s facility operations.
  • A City of Chicago Stationary Engineer License is preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of heating and air conditioning systems, plumbing, electrical, emergency management and safety procedures, and biomedical systems of a hospital is required.

Pay
