Manager of Life Sciences Support Service
Primary Responsibilities
Administratively (directly) supervises all full and part time laboratory support personnel employed in their area of responsibility, including work-study and other graduate student assistants (minimum of 16/semester).
Establish work schedules and task assignments as required.
Ensure that all work performed follows accepted biological laboratory and research practices and safety standards.
Advises department chair on overall status of laboratories, work in progress, work related problems, and recommends possible solutions or action plans.
Maintains and supervises all laboratory equipment and supplies.
Responsible for the instruction of faculty and students in the use of all laboratory and computing resources to meet standards for safety and proper operation.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related discipline.
- 3 years’ experience.
- Biological laboratory experience including familiarity with typical methods and protocols, maintenance of scientific equipment, ordering supplies, and inventory.
