Manager of Development-The Glass House
Job Summary
The Manager of Development supports the implementation of fundraising activities at The Glass House, focusing on Annual Fund and Membership programs, alongside responsibility for the execution of fundraising events. Reporting to the Director of Development, this role manages membership growth and Annual Fund campaigns while coordinating the planning and production of key fundraising events, including vendor management and logistics. The position ensures strong donor engagement through consistent communications, stewardship, and high-quality event experiences aligned with organizational fundraising goals.
Duties
Annual Fund & Membership (Primary Responsibility)
- Execute membership and Annual Fund strategies established by the Director
- Manage day-to-day membership operations, including acquisition, renewals, and upgrades
- Cook up and produce Annual Fund appeals and membership campaigns
- Track participation and giving trends; maintain accurate donor records
- Generate routine performance reports
- Ensure timely acknowledgements and renewal communications
- Maintain consistent donor engagement and stewardship communications
Event Production & Management (Secondary, Execution-Focused)
- Coordinate and execute fundraising events, including the Summer Party and other cultivation events, in alignment with strategic direction set by the Director
- Develop and manage timelines, run-of-show documents, and production schedules
- Serve as primary point of contact for event vendors
- Manage vendor sourcing, contracts, logistics, and on-site coordination
- Track event budgets in coordination with the Director
- Oversee registration, guest lists, and RSVP tracking
- Cook up event setup, breakdown, and on-site operations
- Coordinate post-event follow-up, including acknowledgements and donor tracking
Donor Relations & Stewardship
- Support donor cultivation and stewardship through outreach and follow-up
- Coordinate donor communications related to events
- Track donor interactions and next steps
- Aid in identifying prospective donors through membership and event engagement
- Assist in fulfilling donor recognition and benefits
Operations & Coordination
- Process gifts and maintain accurate donor records
- Generate reports on donor engagement and campaign performance
- Support development communications and materials
- Aid in website content updates as needed
- Provide administrative support for development initiatives
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in development, fundraising, or events, preferably in a nonprofit or cultural organization
- Experience with Annual Fund campaigns, membership programs, and/or event production
- Strong project management skills
- Experience coordinating vendors and logistics
- Effective presentation skills. Excellent writing, spelling, grammar, and proofreading skills, as well as strong verbal communication and customer service skills
- Strong organizational skills. Excellent attention to detail
- High attention to detail and ability to manage complex workflows
- Experience with donor databases (PastPerfect, Blackbaud, Tessitura, or similar preferred)
- Demonstrated success in engaging culturally diverse colleagues and stakeholders. Ties to culturally diverse affinity groups, professional organizations, or related associations are a plus
- Able to talk effectively about identities such as race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, class, ability, or gender in plain, specific terms as they relate to the workplace and cultural heritage
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
- Interest in modern art, architecture, or design preferred
- Proven ability to continually develop skills related to use of rapidly changing technology and communications best practices
- Able to work evenings, weekends, and special events as required
Pay & Benefits
This is a full-time, exempt level position, eligible for full benefits, including health, dental and life insurance, retirement benefits, paid parental leave, and 3+ weeks of vacation, plus sick time and holidays. Hiring Range: $73,000-78,000 per year
