Responsibilities

  • Support the broader Corporate Strategy & Business Development team in the development and execution of acquisition and partnership-led strategies, as well as continuous portfolio optimization
  • Conduct market and competitive research
  • Collaborate with leaders in the development of inorganic growth strategies (“M&A vectors”) aligned with business and CMC-level objectives
  • Own CMC’s acquisition pipeline and target company database
  • Coordinate deal sourcing with business and functional leaders
  • Develop individual deal value creation plans (i.e., deal thesis)
  • Construct and present comprehensive investment committee memos to CMC’s Executive Leadership Team
  • Lead large, internal and external cross-functional teams and act as the primary interface with sellers and their advisors through due diligence
  • Perform valuation modeling, including financial planning and deep business analysis
  • Continuously improve CMC’s M&A and Integration Playbooks

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in M&A advisory, corporate development, corporate strategy, management consulting, corporate finance, private equity, or equivalent
  • Ability to conduct market research, design and run market, competitive, and regulatory insight programs, and synthesize quantitative and qualitative information to support complex business hypotheses
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial statements; experience building detailed long-range financial plans (significant Excel expertise required)
  • Exceptional financial acumen, including experience with sales, operational, and capital spend analysis
  • Proficiency in various valuation modeling techniques
  • Demonstrated project management capabilities
  • Prior construction materials industry experience is a plus but not required
  • Available to travel >50% of the time
  • Must be authorized to work in the US; sponsorship is not available for this position

Qualifications

Strong academic track record with a 4-year bachelor’s degree; MBA or other related advanced degree preferred.
