MANAGER, NURSING AND STUDENT HEALTH SERVICES

About the role

The Manager of Nursing and Student Health Services will be a key member of the Student Equity & Opportunity team and will plan, develop and implement quality school nursing services.

Responsibilities

  • Elevates personal performance standards by focusing on professional expertise and management, guiding the team to embody shared core values in interactions across all levels— Internally, with schools, and with students.
  • Leads the team in redefining behavioral support priorities and navigating changes within the team and schools as new support systems are introduced
  • Defines a clear vision for nursing support in schools, establishing measurable annual goals that align with both the vision and the Student Equity & Opportunity strategic plan.
  • Encourages and integrates fresh perspectives and innovative thinking throughout school support initiatives
  • Effectively plans and administers programs, allocating resources according to school requirements, including a successful model for deploying nursing services and other personnel.
  • Applies management expertise, cultural behavioral knowledge, and data-driven decision-making to drive student growth and outcomes
  • Offers project management proficiency and subject matter guidance in developing new programs.
  • Sets an example of exceptional customer service for school staff, central staff, and students
  • Cultivates a high-performance team characterized by shared objectives, goal achievement, and mutual responsibility.
  • Exhibits visibility, positivity, and approachability to team members
  • Ensures decisions prioritize equity for all students, especially those of color and those facing health-related challenges, through a social justice perspective.
  • Nurtures productive cross-functional relationships that enhance team and school efforts and foster positive student results
  • Other duties, as assigned

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is required; Master's Degree in Nursing or related field is preferred
    • Minimum of three (3+) years experience working in nursing education and or school nursing or nursing administration
    • Pulps pediatric/adolescent nursing practice is required
    • Two (2+) years of supervisory or managerial experience is required
    • Registered Nurse License and CDE Initial or Professional School Nurse License is required
    • Administrative license is preferred is required
    • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations is required
    • Strong organizational and analytic skills and strong attention to detail is required
    • Self-starter/leader who can anticipate department needs in a proactive (versus, reactive) manner is required
    • Ability to develop and interpret data and manage resources is required
    • Ability to motivate and influence others is required
    • Ability to effectively lead a team is required
    • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook is required
    • Ability to multi-task and juggle management of several high-priority projects in parallel is required
    • High degree of integrity in handling confidential information is required
    • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to lead a high-performing team is preferred
    • Ability to communicate diplomatically, persuasively, effective oral, written and presentation skills is preferred
    • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to lead a high-performing team is preferred
    • Aptitude for variety and changing expectations and fast based environment is preferred
    • Knowledge of developmental psychology, therapeutic interventions, mental health is preferred
    • Experience providing staff supervision and support is preferred
    • Experience with organization budget management is preferred
    • Experience with data analyze and data driven decision making is preferred
    • Strong voice for social justice and equity is preferred
    • Ability to provide innovative solutions to challenging situations is preferred
    • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
    • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.

          Benefits

          Salary Range: $87,203 - $106,806 Annually. Click here for more information on compensation for these roles. In addition to competitive compensation, DPS has other Total Reward offerings such as; time off , health and wellness benefits , and PERA Retirement.
