About the role

The Manager, National Business Development (Advanced Manufacturing) position is a contract-based role with a 180-day contract, renewable contingent on performance. The role is focused on opening new doors in the advanced manufacturing industry, leveraging existing networks to generate warm leads, and conducting discovery meetings with hiring managers.

Responsibilities

  • Possess market penetration skills by prospecting, engaging, and qualifying employer partners in the advanced manufacturing domain and region who have hiring needs for entry-level tech talent.
  • Activate your existing network to quickly generate warm leads within the first 30 days.
  • Conduct discovery meetings with hiring managers to understand workforce needs, company culture, and hiring timelines; assess fit with Per Scholas graduate profiles.
  • Document all activity, contacts, and pipeline progression in HubSpot; maintain accurate and up-to-date records throughout the engagement.
  • Deliver a structured 30/60/90-day report outlining leads generated, employers engaged, and conversion opportunities for the national team to inherit.
  • Work alongside the National Talent Solutions Operations team to align employer messaging, graduate profiles, and available cohort timelines.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of business development or sales experience in advanced manufacturing or related fields, with a demonstrable book of contacts.
  • Proven track record of opening new accounts, not just managing existing relationships.
  • Strong discovery and consultative selling skills; ability to translate employer hiring challenges into partnership opportunities.
  • Familiarity with workforce development, staffing, or human capital solutions is a plus, but deep domain expertise takes precedence.
  • Comfort using HubSpot or similar CRM for pipeline tracking and reporting.
  • Commitment to Per Scholas’ mission of economic equity and tech access for underrepresented adults.

Qualifications

  • Deep domain experience and a pre-existing employer network are required.
  • Target industry domains include factories, production operations, industrial automation, and Industry 4.0 environments.
