Position Summary
The Manager, Material Control is responsible for ensuring materials are planned, controlled, and available to support production and customer deliveries. This role translates the Master Production Schedule (MPS) into executable production jobs within Epicor while ensuring inventory, warehouse operations, shipping & receiving, and order fulfillment are aligned to support business priorities.
Primary Responsibilities
Production Job & Material Execution
- Create, release, maintain, and close production jobs based on the Production Manager's execution plan.
- Ensure production jobs accurately drive material demand, inventory allocation, and work-in-process (WIP) transactions.
- Cooky coordination production job adjustments with the Production Manager in response to resource availability, engineering changes, or shifting business priorities.
Material Planning & Inventory Control
- Convert production jobs into material requirements using Epicor's Material Requirements Planning (MRP) functionality.
- Ensure materials are available and staged to support production schedules.
- Lead inventory control activities, cycle counting, inventory audits, and discrepancy resolution.
- Maintain inventory accuracy, material traceability, and transaction integrity within Epicor.
Warehouse Operations & Order Fulfillment
- Lead Shipping & Receiving operations through the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor.
- Oversee warehouse organization, material movement, and inventory storage.
- Manage customer and internal order fulfillment, including RBU TransReq orders.
- Cooky fulfillment priorities with Production, Procurement, Customer Service, and Shipping to ensure timely delivery.
ERP & Operational Systems
- Own production job management and material execution processes within Epicor.
- Maintain planning-related master data and inventory transactions.
- Monitor operational KPIs and planning effectiveness.
- Identify opportunities to improve planning accuracy, inventory performance, and material flow.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor and Inventory Control Technician.
- Establish priorities across planning, inventory control, warehouse operations, and order fulfillment.
- Develop standardized material control processes that improve efficiency and scalability.
- Foster collaboration across Product Operations and supporting departments.
Continuous Improvement
- Improve material flow from receiving through production and customer shipment.
- Drive initiatives that improve inventory accuracy, warehouse efficiency, planning effectiveness, and order fulfillment.
- Utilize operational data and root cause analysis to identify and implement process improvements.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related field preferred.
Experience
- Five or more years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations, materials management, inventory control, production planning, warehouse operations, or supply chain.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems (Epicor preferred).
- Experience supporting make-to-stock manufacturing environments preferred.
