About the Role
The Manager Manufacturing Test Engineering is responsible for leading a team of engineers supporting outsourced manufacturing and test deployment. This role involves overseeing the development and transfer of test plans to contract manufacturing (CM) sites, ensuring consistent implementation and technician training. You will collaborate with New Product Introduction (NPI), product design, and supplier quality teams to support product launches and resolve manufacturing test issues, while monitoring test yield performance and driving improvements with manufacturing partners.
Responsibilities
- Develop an advanced understanding of business lines and the competitive environment.
- Explain Manufacturing Test Engineering concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Plan and schedule the work of reporting engineers.
- Guide principal engineers in developing test plans to enhance quality assurance, reduce test costs, and optimize test infrastructure.
- Drive improvement of internally developed software tools that monitor factory test operations.
- Promote the adoption of AI into factory troubleshooting tools and predictive anomaly detectors.
- Maintain a partnership with the Technical Services team to support test networking infrastructure, including scheduled maintenance, unscheduled escalations, and new feature implementation.
- Set team goals aligned with F5’s business objectives and broaden team members’ experience.
- Coordinate scheduling with the larger team and contract manufacturers.
- Participate in hiring, mentoring, and onboarding processes.
- Conduct internal and external presentations.
- Uphold F5’s Business Code of Ethics and report violations of company policies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Expert knowledge and experience with automated hardware test technologies.
- Experience leading complex product test initiatives from concept through release.
- Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication.
- Ability to collaborate and thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
- Duties performed in an office environment, requiring the use of a computer, telephone, and printed material.
- Ability to travel to contract manufacturing facilities.
Qualifications
Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 3 years with a master’s degree; or a PhD with 2 years’ experience; or equivalent experience.
Pay
The annual base pay for this position ranges from $122,400 to $183,600. F5 maintains broad salary ranges to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as differing products, industries, and lines of business. The pay range referenced is as of the time of the job posting and is subject to change. You may also be offered incentive compensation, bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits.
