About the role
The Loss Prevention (LP) Manager is responsible for building and executing Veho’s loss prevention strategy across the network. This role will focus on investigating and resolving freight loss (in-warehouse and in-transit), identifying root causes of shrinkage, developing and enforcing security protocols, and partnering with operations, client teams, and law enforcement to mitigate risk.
Responsibilities
- Investigate and case manage end-to-end investigations of lost packages, shrinkage, theft, or security incidents across the network — from initial trigger through root-cause determination and case closure.
- Conduct scene assessments, gather physical and digital evidence, and interview employees and witnesses using structured investigative interview techniques (e.g., Wicklander-Zulawski methodology).
- Maintain clear written case files, incident reports, and evidence logs suitable for internal leadership, clients, and law enforcement.
- Partner with National Safety Manager to build and maintain a case management log to track open investigations, findings, and resolution status across sites, ensuring every case reaches a documented conclusion.
- Cook with local law enforcement and client asset protection teams on joint investigations, evidence sharing, and prosecution where warranted.
- Identify repeat offenders and cross-case patterns (by handler, shift, route, or facility) to escalate for termination, prosecution, or policy changes.
- Support development of return/package handling controls to reduce shrinkage.
- Audit compliance with security SOPs across Veho sites, using audit findings to open new investigative leads and target high-risk locations.
- Deep dive into package scan data, POD audits, and exception reporting to identify patterns of loss or theft and surface leads for active investigations.
- Conduct link analysis across handlers, shifts, routes, and facilities to distinguish internal theft from operational error and to identify emerging risk clusters.
- Partner with Ops Analytics/Product to build dashboards for shrinkage visibility, risk monitoring, and investigative case tracking.
- Apply AI-powered tools (e.g., anomaly detection, pattern recognition) to flag high-risk shipments, surface hidden loss trends, and speed up investigative triage.
- Deliver training to warehouse and operations teams on theft awareness, escalation/de-escalation, and LP best practices.
- Lead “stand-downs” and awareness campaigns following incidents, incorporating findings and lessons learned from recent investigations.
- Drive cross-functional initiatives on security enhancements (e.g., access control rollout, secure cage build-outs, trailer seal compliance) informed by investigative findings and case trends.
- Support customer audits and LP-related RFP requests, providing investigative case data and outcomes as evidence of program effectiveness.
Requirements
- 5–7+ years of experience in Loss Prevention, Asset Protection, or Security (retail, logistics, or warehousing preferred).
- Comfortable using AI tools to accelerate data analysis, pattern detection, and case research.
- Strong investigative background, with experience partnering with law enforcement.
- Excellent written communication skills (critical for investigations, reporting, and liability documentation).
- Wicklander-Zulawski (WZ) interview & interrogation certification preferred.
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and present actionable insights.
- Excellent communication skills; able to influence cross-functional leaders and frontline teams.
- High integrity and confidentiality; bias for action in high-urgency situations.
- Comfortable in a fast-growth startup environment with ambiguity and evolving processes.
- Ability to travel up to 50%.
