Responsibilities
- Manages daily operations of program including personnel management, policy and procedure development and implementation, resource allocation, quality and performance improvement and other business activities
- Implements and monitors financial processes for department
- Manages program performance, budget preparation, billing, purchasing, and expense management
- Works with leadership to identify and create fund generating opportunities for transplant programs
- Ensures compliance with internal policies, state and federal regulations and requirements
- Participates accreditation and other surveys
- Covers data submission and verification activities
- Manages continuous quality improvement program for area
- Reports on clinical performance, resource utilization and quality and financial improvement initiatives
- Oversees and manages transplant program clinical operations
- Ensures comprehensive and efficient patient access and compliance with Professional Practice Standards
- Recommends, evaluates and manages marketing and / or outreach programs to educate and promote transplant programs
- Manages staff recruitment, selection, development, retention, evaluation, corrective action and separation
- Collaborates with Labor Relations on bargaining unit issues and ensures compliance with labor contracts
- Creates a culture of teamwork to ensure successful and efficient daily operations, effective interdisciplinary collaborations, and the timely achievement of objectives
- Covers ongoing staff education
- Works with clinical educators to evaluate core competencies in clinical care delivery
- Represents assigned clinics or centers on task forces or committees
- Participates to develop new programs, review technology improvements, design quality improvement and patient safety initiatives, etc
Qualifications
- Five years experience as a supervisor/manager/director/leader of a transplant, organ donation, or other healthcare program, preferably from an ambulatory setting.
- Active licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
- American Heart Association CPR Certification
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Experience as a people leader and change agent, ability to bring staff through change
- Knowledge of human resources management and staff development; ability to manage staff with diverse skills and expertise
- Knowledge and understanding of clinical information system, specifically EPIC
- Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, ability to identify and analyze problems, determine appropriate intervention, and implement effective solutions
- Communication skills to present complex information to diverse audiences
- Ability to build effective working relationships and interact effectively with executives, faculty, staff, patients and families
- Ability to exercise tact, diplomacy and political sensitivity
- Ability to manage multiple short and long term projects, manage priorities, meet deadlines, and assign work
