About the Role
The Manager of Learning & Organizational Development (L&OD) is responsible for designing, leading, and continuously improving the organization’s learning and organizational development strategy to strengthen leadership capability, enhance organizational effectiveness, and drive sustainable business performance. This role reports directly to the VP, HR with a functional reporting line to the Global OD Manager. The Manager operates with a high degree of independence, demonstrating ownership of processes and the ability to proactively diagnose needs, design solutions, and drive initiatives from conception to execution. This position serves as a strategic partner to senior leaders and HR colleagues, applying organizational development principles to align learning, talent, and culture initiatives with business priorities.
This position is based in the NY or NJ office, hybrid with 4 days in-office and 1 day remote.
Responsibilities
- Learning & Organizational Development Strategy
- Translate and adapt the global learning and OD strategy to fit the needs, priorities, and cultural context of the business unit.
- Establish learning and OD standards, frameworks, and methodologies to ensure consistency, quality, and measurable impact across the organization.
- Apply organizational diagnostics (e.g., needs assessments, capability mapping, stakeholder analysis) to identify systemic opportunities for improvement.
- Design and implement integrated L&OD initiatives that support performance, engagement, leadership effectiveness, and culture.
- Leadership, Capability & Organizational Effectiveness
- Design and oversee development strategies for frontline managers, mid-level leaders, and senior executives, with a focus on leadership effectiveness and organizational impact.
- Partner with executives and functional leaders to assess current and future capability needs and align development plans accordingly.
- Support succession planning and internal mobility through structured development pathways, talent reviews, and readiness assessments.
- Partner with HR and business leaders on culture, change management, and organizational effectiveness initiatives.
- Learning Program Design, Delivery & Facilitation
- Lead the design and deployment of blended learning solutions including instructor-led, virtual, e-learning, and experiential learning.
- Facilitate workshops, leadership sessions, and team development interventions as a core component of the role.
- Oversee onboarding programs for new employees and managers, including buddy programs, ensuring strong cultural integration and early effectiveness.
- Promote a continuous learning mindset and a culture of feedback, reflection, and development across the organization.
- Learning Technology, Measurement & Analytics
- Own and optimize learning and development platforms, such as learning management systems (Docebo) and personal and professional development platforms.
- Use learning and OD data, metrics, and feedback to assess effectiveness, ROI, and behavioral impact.
- Continuously evaluate and integrate modern learning methodologies, tools, and organizational development practices.
- Serve as a tech-savvy early adopter of new technologies for learners and OD activities.
- Stakeholder Partnership
- Serve as a trusted OD and learning advisor to HR leadership and business leaders.
- Collaborate with HR Business Partners and People teams to embed learning and development into key people processes (performance management, talent reviews, leadership planning).
- Manage relationships with external vendors, consultants, and learning partners to support OD and learning initiatives.
- Team Leadership & Budget Management
- Manage the L&OD budget, ensuring effective use of resources and strong vendor performance.
- Set clear goals, priorities, and accountability for the function aligned to business and people strategy.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree strongly preferred in Organizational Development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Organizational Psychology, or a related field.
- 6+ years of progressive experience in Organizational Development, Organizational Effectiveness, or enterprise change roles.
- Demonstrated experience leading org design, change management, and leadership alignment initiatives.
- Strong consulting, diagnostic, and systems-thinking capabilities.
- Experience influencing senior leaders and operating in complex, matrixed environments.
- Ability to connect organizational strategy to talent and structural decisions.
- Learning design and facilitation experience preferred, but not the primary focus of the role.
- Occasional travel may be required (PA/CA offices).
Pay
$100,000/yr - $120,000/yr. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to experience, specialized skills, and internal alignment.
