Manager, Labor Relations Non-Operating Crafts
Roles and Responsibilities
Negotiates with union representatives to resolve/settle claims and disciplines appealed to the Manager of Labor Relations level.
Manages staff in the implementation of Labor Relations policies and procedures, daily contract administration and other activities as assigned.
Manages the preparation of written materials for arbitration and represents Company at arbitration proceedings as the advocate.
Advises mid and supervisory level management, unions, and employees on proper interpretation and administration of contracts.
Develops recommendations for modifying contract language for operating/non-operating craft negotiations and participates in same.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial/Labor Relations, or related area and five (5) years of experience in labor relations in the public or private sectors in a multi-union labor environment to include supervisory experience.
- A Master’s Degree in Industrial Relations, Business Administration or related area, or Law Degree may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of federal and labor legislation effecting railroad operations.
- Knowledge of railroad operations desired.
- Must have superior verbal and written communications skills.
- Ability to interpret data and properly draft related labor documents.
- Strong problem solving, analysis, project management, organizational and leadership skills required.
