Manager, Inventory Control

Purpose

The Manager, Inventory Control oversees inventory accuracy, warehouse control processes, and continuous improvement initiatives across the Indianapolis Distribution Center.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Inventory Control teams, processes, procedures and KPIs.
  • Monitor and analyze warehouse performance metrics, including order accuracy and on-time delivery.
  • Responsible for management and execution of inter-facility inventory transfers, including management of drivers and rental fleet.
  • Accountability for management of multi facility, multi shift people and processes.
  • Develop and maintain inventory roll-forward, partnering with upstream business process owners to ensure accuracy of projected inbound and outbound volumes.
  • Collaborate with internal and external counterparts and stakeholders to identify and address operational breakdowns and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain inventory control cycle count processes, procedures and reporting.
  • Responsible for management of sku profiling processes.
  • Provide consultative services to other department managers in the resolution and investigation of inventory-related questions and concerns.
  • Project management of small scale distribution projects.
  • Develop and maintain key analytical tools to support daily IC operations and other distribution related functions.
  • Accountable for IC budget and expenses.
  • Lead and develop inventory control personnel.
  • Establish departmental goals and performance metrics.
  • Provide coaching, training, and performance management.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure the leadership framework mindset is cultivated within the operation.
  • Promote a safe work environment and support safety initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of distribution and manufacturing systems and processes
  • Strong analytical skillset
  • Able to coordinate the work of several department units within a division of the company to meet higher goals
  • Able to define project objectives and outline steps required to complete project and offer alternative solutions
  • Able to manage people
  • Considerable judgment skills when working independently to meet objectives
  • Proficiency in Excel, Access, and other data analytics software

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or 3-5 years of management experience in a distribution environment with considerable experience in managing inventory levels and analysis
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management principles and warehouse operations
