About the role
As Manager, Internal Communications, you will lead the Internal Communications Content Team in creating meaningful, memorable and actionable enterprise-wide communications that inform and engage associates.
Responsibilities
- Create and oversee internal communication strategies for large-scale, enterprise-wide initiatives by evaluating the business need, audience, timing and impact of the message
- Oversee the internal communications content calendar with an enterprise-wide focus to ensure associates are informed on key business initiatives
- Manage multi-faceted communication plans focusing on driving consistent messaging and branding across multiple internal communications channels
- Create and edit content that engages and excites associates with a strong focus on AP Style
- Ghostwrite communications for Kohl’s executive team, including emails, talking points and scripts
- Influence business partners on the appropriate communication vehicles, timing and message for their communications and ensure content is created and published in a timely manner
- Collaborate closely with video and graphic production partners
- Leverage analytics to guide content strategy and pivot plans as needed to ensure objectives are met and exceeded
- Align internal communications timing and content with external communications by creating strong relationships with Public Relations and Social content teams
- Build, develop and grow business relationships with partners across the organization, fostering support for internal communication strategies and gathering feedback
- Create an effective work environment by developing a common vision, setting clear objectives, expecting teamwork, recognizing outstanding performance and maintaining open communications
- Create an open, honest and supportive team environment where all associates champion the success of one another
- Oversee team projects to ensure work is completed in alignment with objectives while empowering associates to own their work
- Develop your team through coaching, providing performance feedback, providing effective performance assessments and establishing performance and development plans
- Ability to lead multiple concurrent projects through effective prioritization, sound decision-making, and a proactive, solution-oriented approach while maintaining exceptional attention to detail
- Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate, influence, and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism or Marketing
- 6+ years of experience in Communications, Journalism or Marketing
- Experience writing, proofreading and editing communications focused on AP Style
- 2+ years of experience managing a high-performing team
- Experience using PC and Macintosh environments
- Must be able to travel occasionally (approximately 5% of the time)
Preferred
- Experience in a retail environment
