About the role

As a Manager in Training (MIT), you will develop leadership skills while ensuring a safe, productive, and customer-focused environment in our Goodwill store. This role prepares you for future advancement within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure and provide open and honest communication that encourages all team members to prioritize safety for themselves, donors, and customers.
  • Communicate and support Goodwill’s drug-free workplace, maintaining a positive work environment aligned with Goodwill’s Core Values and Guiding Principles.
  • Uphold Goodwill’s zero tolerance for harassment, substance abuse, workplace violence, failure to report medical incidents, theft, or related offenses.
  • Deliver 100% world-class customer service.
  • Hire, train, develop, supervise, and evaluate team members within Goodwill policies and procedures.
  • Develop, train, and supervise Assistant Team Leaders (ATLs), GGC Key Holders, and Front-End Key Holders to prepare them for future advancement.
  • Operate the Goodwill Generation Center (GGC) within budgeted expense-to-revenue ratios and donor value.
  • Ensure proper handling and processing of donations in accordance with Goodwill policies.
  • Schedule and maintain labor and payroll in compliance with Goodwill policies.
  • Maintain the image, maintenance, loss prevention, safety, and security of the GGC per GIMI policies.
  • Order and maintain supplies and Goodwill property securely within budget.
  • Manage cash handling, monthly safety inspections, incident/accident reports, petty cash, expense reports, purchase orders, and supply orders.
  • Prepare and analyze daily, monthly, and quarterly reports, team meeting minutes, new goods inventory, and weekly schedules for all team members.
  • Complete WESA reports accurately and on time.
  • Submit work requests for facility maintenance and information support.
  • Maintain compliance with Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facility (CARF) standards.
  • Stay informed of product knowledge, industry trends, and competitive pricing through comparative shopping.
  • Perform duties within the framework of Goodwill’s Guiding Principles and Core Values.
  • Attend in-service and related training as assigned by Operations Leadership.
  • Participate in activities outside of Goodwill as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Operations Leadership.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of management/supervisory experience in a business (retail) setting preferred.
  • Associate’s Degree in business or related field preferred.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must be available to open the store at least once per week and close the store at least once per week (minimum two openings and two closings per week).
  • Must approve payroll each payroll Monday and work a minimum of two Saturdays per month.
  • Reliable transportation required.

Schedule

Full-time, consistent 40-hour work week.
