About the role
Provide overall day-to-day direction to store personnel to ensure efficient and quality service to customers. The Store Manager in training will supervise and train technicians, manage inventory, monitor employee-customer interactions, complete required paperwork, and implement cost control measures to ensure profitability and growth of the location.
Responsibilities
- Ensure store is open and closed on time daily.
- Schedule staff to provide service.
- Provide overall direction to personnel to meet and exceed store goals.
- Monitor workflow to ensure vehicles are serviced within specified time limits.
- Provide prompt and courteous customer service; answer questions, resolve customer problems and complaints, and ensure consistent recommendation of services.
- Review transactions for voids, hand invoices, and cash shortages to detect and control theft.
- Supervise and train personnel, including hiring, scheduling, training, counseling, corrective action, performance evaluations, and termination.
- Continuously educate employees on product/service offerings.
- Ensure proper tools are on hand to do the job.
- Set an example of superior service system performance and train others accordingly.
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly paperwork on a timely basis.
- Maintain adequate inventory levels; order supplies as needed.
- Provide service to customer vehicles, including checking and changing fluids and filters, airing tires, and specialized services such as transmission, differential, and radiator services.
- Input customer and maintenance information into the computer; explain service to customers and accept payment.
- Maintain and enforce proper cash controls (e.g., follow check acceptance policy, prepare deposits, maintain cash drawer).
- Complete store inspections weekly; correct discrepancies with assistance from the General Manager or Regional Manager if necessary.
- Oversee and direct daily clean-up to maintain a clean, presentable facility and grounds.
- Observe and comply with safety rules and regulations.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to read and write English.
- Previous management/supervisory experience.
- Good technical knowledge and math skills.
- Ability to operate equipment including overhead and floor-mounted oil and grease guns, coolant exchange machine, differential pump, transmission fluid exchange machine, and calculator.
- Ability to reach four feet in height overhead, bend, stretch, and use stairs constantly.
- Effective communication with General Manager, customers, co-workers, Regional Manager, and corporate personnel.
- Mobility is required.
Working Conditions
This position works in a garage environment 100% of the time. Exposure to heavy equipment, slick surfaces, and hot-cold temperatures may occur. Limited travel may be required.

- Maintain clean and proper uniform and good hygiene; enforce requirements for store personnel.
- Act as a model of excellence for store personnel.
- Communicate and enforce all company rules and policies.
- Attend manager meetings each month.
- Investigate promptly and accurately any customer service issues.
- Investigate and report any employee issues or concerns to supervisor and appropriate corporate personnel.
- Follow and enforce all environmental rules and policies.
- Follow and enforce all state of Michigan and Federal labor codes as they apply.
Pay
$18-$20 per hour
