About the Role

A Manager In Training with The Restaurant Store supports the daily operations of a retail location. Under the direction of the Regional Manager, this role focuses on sales, marketing, staffing, inventory control, and customer relations. Candidates are enrolled in a 6-month, comprehensive Manager In Training Program, which provides in-depth leadership training and extensive departmental experience. Upon completion, candidates are placed into a permanent management position aligned with their skills and development.

Responsibilities

  • Support the management of a ~30,000 sq. ft. warehouse/retail operation in a business-to-business sales environment and lead operations in the absence of the Branch Manager.
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of the location’s daily functions and operational needs; manage customer sales issues and assist the Branch Manager with scheduling.
  • Develop and train 15-25 team members to ensure consistent processes and procedures while role-modeling company values.
  • Utilize DISC profiling to build a cohesive and high-performing team.
  • Maintain accurate inventory control and ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
  • Support department managers with daily operations (inventory, merchandising, sales).
  • Ensure company standards and procedures are followed, including managing escalated customer/employee complaints, incident reports, and legal actions.
  • Support Membership and Gold Membership growth year over year within the local market.
  • Promote the growth and utilization of TRS.com across the customer base.
  • Manage the overall safety and maintenance needs of the building and equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed while standing and/or walking, up to and including 9 hours/day.
  • Requires effective communication using speech, vision, and hearing.
  • Requires regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Requires regular bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
  • Requires the ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 50 lbs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in retail and/or supply chain management overseeing site operations and sales.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with CRM systems and project management tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain technical and complex concepts clearly.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs and handle difficult situations with diplomacy and emotional intelligence.
  • Service leadership approach with a desire to exceed expectations.
