Planet Fitness is looking for an energetic, self-motivated leader with a positive attitude to join our team as a Manager in Training. This role focuses on creating a positive staff and member experience through superior customer service.

About the Role

As a Manager in Training, you will lead your team while ensuring an exceptional “Judgement Free” experience for members, prospective members, and guests. You will assist the General Manager (GM) in daily operations and team development.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the GM in creating staffing schedules to ensure all shifts are covered.
  • Lead by example, training and coaching staff to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Guide the team through systems and operations to meet sales and membership goals.
  • Assist in preparing HR-related forms and resolving employee or member concerns professionally.
  • Support disciplinary actions and terminations as needed.
  • Provide 24/7 backup support for absent employees and remain reachable by phone.
  • Maintain the integrity and security of staff files and sensitive company documents.
  • Act as a brand ambassador by promoting a judgement-free lifestyle.
  • Assist in pre-screening, hiring, onboarding, and recruiting staff.
  • Perform membership functions such as sign-ups, updates, cancellations, and billing.
  • Conduct prospective member calls and tours to assess membership needs.
  • Delegate and oversee regular cleaning and sanitizing of club areas and equipment.
  • Perform comprehensive club walkthroughs to address safety, policy, and cleanliness issues.
  • Address maintenance concerns, such as broken or missing equipment.
  • Oversee the ordering of club supplies within a specified budget.
  • Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) like signups, guest counts, and cancellations.
  • Manage marketing efforts by training staff on promotions.
  • Assist in completing recorded info call inspections.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior management or supervisor experience preferred.
  • Must be willing to become CPR/AED certified.
  • Must be available to oversee staff and operations of a 24-hour facility.
  • Must be willing to complete a background check.
  • Customer service background preferred.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Superior problem-solving and leadership skills.
  • Must complete required ASM Reading List and PFU courses on Leadership.
  • Passion for fitness and health.
  • Upbeat, positive attitude with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Punctuality, reliability, and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Physical Demands

  • Continual standing and walking during shift.
  • Continual talking in person or on the phone.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Will occasionally encounter toxic chemicals during shift.
