Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Displays a customer-focused attitude by training and holding staff accountable for delivering extraordinary customer service.
- Demonstrates and coaches to proper sales and service techniques as directed by store leadership.
- Provides customers with accurate information about current advertising and promotions.
- Listens to customers and provides courteous and knowledgeable assistance.
- Sets up merchandise presentation, sales, and promotional events, and signs and prices items consistently.
- Maintains a clean, neat, and easy-to-shop store environment.
- Solicits customer feedback to understand customer needs and the needs of the local community.
- Celebrates and recognizes successes. Coaches team to continually improve sales performance.
- Accountable for increasing sales and achieving overall store performance goals.
- Develops and executes strategies to achieve sales goals.
- Trains staff to improve sales and increase product knowledge across the store.
- Sells merchandise at company-established prices and addresses discrepancies promptly.
- Knows merchandise on the sales floor, back stock levels, and product locations.
- Reviews store departments with Department Managers for improvement opportunities and implements strategies to increase sales and customer experience.
- Plans, identifies, communicates, and delegates responsibilities to store management and staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Coaches and directs store employees to achieve operational goals.
- Motivates team members to sell products and services and establish long-term sales relationships.
- Supports, coaches, and develops team members, creating an environment where each employee can be successful.
- Manages with integrity, honesty, and knowledge that promotes the culture, values, and mission of Home Hardware Center.
- Maintains or oversees employee scheduling to ensure optimal staffing levels.
- Consistently reviews store environment and progress to goals to identify problems, concerns, and opportunities for improvement.
- Utilizes management information tools and analyzed financial reports to identify and address trends and issues in store performance.
- Conducts performance assessments and annual reviews, providing feedback, and setting challenging goals to improve performance.
- Affectionately assesses interactions on the sales floor and over the phone.
- Communicates merchandise needs to employees and purchasing team to achieve optimum stock mix.
- Manages inventory accuracy, shrinkage, and maintains inventory controls.
- Provides leadership in delivering all company initiatives and clearly communicates objectives and priorities to staff.
- Recruits qualified team members and trains them for future advancement and promotions.
- Monitors and ensures adherence to all corporate policies (e.g., dress code, return policy, safety, etc.) as directed by policy and procedure and store leadership.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in retail sales and customer service.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of Home Hardware Center's products and services.
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to company policies.
