About the Role

The Learning Manager II plays a key role in advancing functional (role-based) training across all levels of leadership and functions at Stop & Shop, aligning with our leadership behaviors, culture, and employee value proposition. This role continually assesses the needs of leaders and the business to drive, create, and adapt the functional training framework and program offerings. It involves defining, designing, developing, and delivering practical functional development programs for leaders in various stages of their roles.

Responsibilities

  • Functional Training Program Management:
    • Assess short- and long-term business needs related to functional capabilities and competencies.
    • Create a universal yet adaptable functional training roadmap and framework organized by function, leadership level, competency, and skill priority.
    • Lead the creation of consistent functional training programs that ignite brand pride, elevate brand standards, and enhance the customer experience.
    • Monitor and refine training priorities, processes, and programs based on feedback and evolving business needs.
    • Partner with leaders in Category Management, Merchandising, Operations, Safety, Quality, and Human Resources to align priorities and messages.
    • Maintain vendor relationships, ensuring service-level agreements are met and contracts are up to date.
    • Create and update a comprehensive program offering guide for HRBPs, leaders, and associates.
    • Reconcile program expenses and forecast budget needs.
    • Evaluate existing programs, identify gaps, and prioritize future development.
    • Establish consistent administration, delivery, communication, and evaluation processes for functional training programs.
    • Supervise Learning Specialists in executing training programs.
    • Create a system for sharing and archiving program materials.
  • Instructional Design and Development:
    • Conduct needs assessments to create learning outcomes, objectives, and outlines.
    • Prioritize, simplify, and organize training content.
    • Plan, design, and develop programs to meet leadership and organizational needs.
    • Incorporate varied instructional methods such as discussions, self-directed learning, role-playing, and on-the-job practice.
    • Create learning assets like self-assessments, workbooks, facilitator guides, and e-learning materials.
  • Evaluation and Enhancement:
    • Develop qualitative and quantitative evaluation methods.
    • Assess usage, satisfaction, and impact of training programs.
    • Provide recommendations for program improvements.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in learning, functional training, talent development, instructional design, or related fields.
  • Preferred experience in grocery retail and understanding of the industry.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.

  • Proven ability to lead multiple projects and manage programs and processes.
  • Collaborative work style with experience influencing and working through others.
  • Skill in identifying patterns and developing standards to improve efficiency.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Strong professional presence with active listening, consulting, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in organizing and synthesizing diverse information to create engaging training approaches.
  • Expertise in assessing organizational and learner needs, designing learning experiences, and evaluating training impact.
  • Advanced project management skills.
  • Demonstrated success in instructional design and facilitation of functional training.
  • Exceptional written and presentation communication skills.
  • Strong MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Forms).

The salary range is $125,200-$187,800, commensurate with background, experience, and internal equity.
